San Francisco (Set #3): Forget it Jake, it’s Chinatown …

My third and final set of San Francisco photos from my recent weekend visit focuses on Chinatown and the nearby TransAmerica Pyramid, which dominates the skyline of San Francisco from just about every angle. The Pyramid is just a hop, skip, and a jump from Chinatown, so it’s almost always present at every street crossing.

I walk through Chinatown every time I visit San Francisco and each time something new catches my eye. This time I was amazed by some of the murals on the side streets, and beyond that, some of the buildings’ paint jobs, like that striking green (no filter added) building above.

My walk through Chinatown always ends at a legendary San Francisco bookstore, City Lights. From there I walk down Columbus Avenue towards the TransAmerica Pyramid and always encounter Francis Ford Coppola’s Zoetrope Building. I’m always struck by the juxtaposition of these two buildings, even though they’re blocks apart. They’re both such iconic structures representing different eras—and cultures—in the city. I almost always have to snap a few photos of them, separately and together.

That’s it for San Francisco, folks. Coming up later this year: Seattle, Portland, New York City, and (drum roll, please): LONDON!

All photos were taken with an iPhone 6. Click on the thumbnails to see the photos larger on your screen and in slideshow mode. If you like my photos please follow me on Instagram @gg92101.
