Tales From My Spinner Rack Episode 32 Now Available! …

64 years ago, the creation of the Marvel Universe took a giant leap forward when three of the company’s most famous heroes debuted in their first comic book appearances ALL ON THE SAME DAY! Yep, hard as it is to believe, the Amazing Spider-Man, the Mighty Thor, and the Astonishing Ant-Man all hit newsstands on June 5th, 1962. Co-created by writers Stan Lee and his brother, Larry Lieber, and artists Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko, these three costumed characters would go on to seven decades of fame, well into the era of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Tales From My Spinner Rack! Episode 32: “Amazing and Astonishing: These Marvel Heroes Debuted on the Same Day!” tells the stories of the origins of Peter Parker, Dr. Don Blake, and Dr. Henry Pym. Marvel publisher Martin Goodman had decided that superheroes were in again, and told editor Stan Lee to replace the monsters and invading aliens in five of their ongoing titles with costumed characters. The slate had already begun with the hit series, The Fantastic Four and the not-so-hit series, The Incredible Hulk, but the three new guys would forge the new (old) direction for the company, which was off and running in the Silver Age of Comics!
