Tales From My Spinner Rack LIVE! at Comic-Con 2023 …

I’m very pleased and excited to announce I will be presenting a panel featuring Tales From My Spinner Rack! at Comic-Con 2023, in just a few short weeks! If you caught my very first appearance at WonderCon back in March, you’ll want to join me for this one, as I cover the two most memorable members of the Superman family of 60 years ago: Jimmy Olsen and Lois Lane! This will be a fun, nostalgic look back at these two incredible titles from an era when comic books were decidedly different, showcased in a PowerPoint presentation featuring covers, story art, and photos from the rollicking 1960s. See Jimmy’s incredible transformations! See Lois’s schemes to find out who Superman really is! See Superman be a dick! I kid you not, these are amongst DC’s wonkiest comic books, drawn by great artists like Curt Swan and Kurt Schaffenberger. It’s a trip down memory lane AND a comics history lesson.

Two of the monstrous comics we’ll be covering at Comic-Con! Art ™ & © DC.

Here’s the official panel description:
Fresh off its triumphant premiere at WonderCon 2023, Gary Sassaman (former director of programming and publications, Comic-Con International), brings his weekly blog feature to Comic-Con! Tales from My Spinner Rack LIVE! explores the comics Sassaman fondly remembers from his childhood, presented with equal parts humor and nostalgia and with a ton of images. This time around, he dives into the 1950s & ‘60s series Superman’s Pal, Jimmy Olsen and Superman’s Girlfriend, Lois Lane in an all-new presentation titled “Jimmy & Lois: Still Crazy After All These Years!” Spun out of the hit TV series The Adventures of Superman, these two titles upped DC’s wonky quotient in the Silver Age of Comics! Free postcards and buttons while supplies last.

I’ll announce the day, time, and room number soon, so keep that calendar close by and check back for updates. Now that Marvel isn’t going to be in Hall H, this will undoubtedly become THE must-see panel of Comic-Con 2023!

Me looking a bit shocked by what my special guest Bat-Baby just said at the Tales from My Spinner Rack LIVE! panel at WonderCon. Needless to say, Bat-Baby will NOT be invited to Comic-Con.
