I used to love going to New York City in the fall. While my timing was always a bit off when it came to the leaves changing, I was usually there when the ice rink was up and running in beautiful Rockefeller Center, one of numerous iconic locations throughout that city that I visited each time I was there. One time, while roaming through 30 Rock in the late 1970s, I came across Gilda Radner going to work at Saturday Night Live. She gave my gawking face a big smile as she checked in with the guard to be let into the elevators going upstairs.
I never went skating at 30 Rock … or anywhere else for that matter (weak ankles). But I admired the form and grace and sometimes hilarious awkwardness of those who did. No awkwardness this time, though … that’s all grace.
