It looks spectacular in the daytime and even better at night, providing the neon is cared for and all lit up. The Loma Theatre is, sadly, no longer a movie theater, but it is a bookstore, which in my mind is the next best thing for it to be. It was opened in 1945, and lies in the busy “Sports Arena” area of San Diego, on Rosecrans Blvd., the street that takes you to Point Loma and the Cabrillo National Monument. It closed as a theater in 1987 and its final movie was Fatal Attraction. Luckily the new owners had an attraction to that iconic sign and kept it.
