Tales From My Spinner Rack! Episode 07, titled “Marvel Monster Madness!,” is now available for your viewing pleasure! Making its World Premiere at WonderCon 2024 on March 30th, this edited (and enhanced) video version features my nostalgic look back at that limbo-like period of time between Atlas Comics and Marvel Comics, when Martin Goodman and Stan Lee’s comic book line existed solely on a steady diet of teen, romance, humor, Western, and war comics, and … oh, yeah … giant monster and invading space alien stories, drawn mainly by Jack Kirby, Dick Ayers, Steve Ditko, and Don Heck. This episode takes an A-to-Z look at some of the more memorable monsters that stalked the pages of Strange Tales, Journey Into Mystery, Tales of Suspense, Tales to Astonish, and Amazing Adventures/Amazing Adult Fantasy from 1958 through 1961. And yes, we poke fun at some of Stan and his brother Larry Lieber’s wonky monster names and silly solutions for vanquishing the alien invaders, but it’s only because we love them!
