TFMSR 031: YouTube Video Episode 01! …

BREAKING NEWS!!!
After the launch of my new Official Tales From My Spinner Rack! YouTube Channel just last week, we already have ONE subscriber! I never expected such a stunning response. I’m already preparing my speech for the YouTube equivalent of the Oscars, which is probably called the Tubbies or some such, and undoubtedly hosted by the Teletubbies, since they are now all fully-grown, dissolute adults with nothing better to do.

This week, we premiere our very first episode: #01: “And Lo, There Shall Be A … SPINNER RACK!” This one is all about me, Me, ME, folks, so if you’re of the faint of heart and just don’t want to learn too much about “My Secret Origin,” or how Tales From My Spinner Rack! came to be, turn away. Go read a book or watch TV or walk the dog or try to walk the cat. See how that works out for you.

When I did my first-ever Spinner Rack panel at WonderCon 2023, I included way-too-much autobiographical info. I subsequently whittled that way down for my second presentation at Comic-Con 2023, but I still think it’s important to present my bona-fides and show you the deep-seated love I have of comics—especially the comics I grew up with the 1960s— and that’s why I do Spinner Rack. Hopefully this short video (about 13 and 1/2 minutes) will give you a feel for what future Spinner Rack YouTube videos will be like, especially when it comes to the look and feel of the graphics and how I put together a presentation.

And I want you all to know that I spared absolutely no expense on this, spending a grand total of $17.00 for music that sounds reasonably super-heroic. So, why am I doing this, you may ask? Well, it’s something to do, it’s kinda fun (for me at least, hopefully for you, the viewer, too) and it’s something that’s at least a little bit of a challenge. And if you’re a fan of my traditional Spinner Rack posts, don’t worry … we’ll squeeze a few more of those in by the end of the year, too. I just need to scratch this itch while it still … itches.

There! That wasn’t so bad, was it? If only you knew how many tries it took me to get that audio done (because I’m too old and lazy to learn how to edit, I’m doing the whole thing in one-pass in Keynote and then exporting it as a movie and uploading it; now you know all my secrets!).
