Come See Me at the Comic-Con Museum on March 11! …

No, I won’t just be loitering outside in Balboa Park … I will actually be talking and running a PowerPoint presentation on Comic-Con’s Souvenir Book covers from 1970 through 2022. I’ll be joining moderator Jackie Estrada and artists Bill Morrison and William Stout (both are tied with Jim Lee for illustrating the most covers, with three each) to discuss the current Comic-Con Museum exhibit, “Cover Story: Five Decades of Comic-Con.” The panel discussion starts at 2:00 PM and will be followed by a signing (I’m not sure what we’re signing, but I think it’s a free item). You’ll be able to see each and every cover from over 50 years of Comic-Con, and some—including the Morrison and Stout covers—will have some behind-the-scenes sketches and pencils.

Here’s the official panel description:

In conjunction with the current “Cover Story” exhibit, the Comic-Con Museum is delighted to announce that four of the people responsible for the creation of many of the SDCC Souvenir Book covers will be on hand at the Museum on Saturday, March 11. Jackie Estrada, Bill Morrison, Gary Sassaman, and Bill Stout will share Comic-Con memories and behind-the-scenes stories about the covers in a panel discussion scheduled for 2:00 PM. The panel discussion will be followed by a signing. Attending this program is free with your Museum admission purchase.

So that’s this Saturday, March 11, 2:00 PM at the Comic-Con Museum … I hope to see you there!

Oh … and stay tuned for some exciting news about a very special panel with yours truly at WonderCon 2023! (Can you say “Spinner Rack” … ?)
